Young minds. Real-world problems.

One app that could
change something.

In 2026, 3,000 students from 41 schools across 19 countries used Canva Code to build apps tackling the UN Sustainable Development Goals. No coding experience needed. Just a problem worth solving.

For 2027, we’re opening it wider. Students aged 10 and up, working in teams of three to six, will choose one Sustainable Development Goal and build an app with AI as their co-creator.

1SDG to tackle

Winning teams are invited to present at AIDUCATION’27. Teams who can’t travel will still have their work showcased as part of the programme.

What students created in 2026

Winning teams from Shanghai, London and Rome created a citizen science platform for tracking ocean debris, interactive games on water sustainability and an immersive simulation of ocean health.

Five independent judges reviewed every finalist. Teachers told us that students who had never seen themselves as coders stood up and explained the logic behind what they had built.
